This study applied the Geomatics technique to establish the exploring methods of Geomancy. Traditional Geomancy theory were reviewed and studied, then use one of the factions of Geomancy as a basis for research. The major cases were located in the Camel mountain area of Linyuan Township, Kaohsiung County. Some cases were located at flat regions. An experienced Geomancy master was guided for on-site survey and GPS positioning in order to get the coordinates positions and photos for comparison and analysis.
The core method of this study was to combine the technology of RS, GIS and GPS. Remote sensing images and digital elevation data were building for 2D graphics and 3D topographic maps. PG-STEAMER software was used for mosaic, color adjustment and cutting to obtain the analysis layers. ArcGIS analysis was used to build 2D graphics for the pattern analyze of all cases, and sketched cave type for each case. Three-dimensional topographic maps were constructed for long tracking, acupuncture looking, hill observing, water searching and other Geomancy characteristics exploring. According to the results of the application of spatial information technology for Geomancy exploration, it does not only break through the traditional limitations of vision but also make a comprehensive survey to all cases. It can be a useful tool for Geomancy study.
