英文摘要

The fire-fighting job connects with citizens daily life and safety of their properties. The more developed countries, the more focus on fire-fighting and disaster-prevention job. Since the relationship between the fire-fighters and citizens life and property is so important, the fire-fighters mental and physical condition and a sound organization are directly influencing the quality of fire-fighting and disaster-prevention. Moreover, the leadership style of field station heads is a key factor on job satisfaction for the fire-fighters. Therefore, an enhance of fire-fighters job satisfaction will depend on leaders proper behavior to promote the job satisfaction. The higher job satisfaction will provide the better service. The results will be beneficial to the performance and development for the basic station.
The method used in this study is the questionnaire survey. A total of 300 questionnaires was distributed to the fire-fighters in field corps of Kaohsiung City Fire Bureau, and some 291 valid questionnaires were returned. By running the SPSS statistical software, major results are summarized as follows: 1. Most of the field fire-fighter are generally satisfied with their job; 2. The degree of job dissatisfaction has not statistically significant between different backgrounds; 3. There is a significant positive relation between leadership behavior and job satisfaction; and 4. There is a significant negative relation between education background and job satisfaction.
According to the results, some suggestions are offered as follows: 1. transactional leadership should be applied, so as to avoid the brain drain; 2. fully understanding the subordinates in order to promote the degree of job satisfaction of the fire-fighters of field corps; and 3. Sound regulations should be made to guarantee the job and welfare of the fire-fighters of field corps.
