One of 12 local surveys of public participation in the arts sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts in 1992, the Dade County survey collected information about residents' participation in the arts, including ballet, opera, plays, museums, and concerts. Intended to augment the 1992 national Survey of Public Participation in the Arts (SPPA), many questions in the survey were identical to those asked in the national SPPA. The survey included questions on frequency of arts attendance, arts participation through the media, reasons for not attending more often, sources of information about the arts, and other questions of specific interest to the local community. The study was co-sponsored by the Metropolitan Dade County Cultural Affairs Council.
