The aim of this study is to discuss the relationship between personality and involvement degree of online game among the elementary school senior grade students in Taipei City. The elementary school senior grade students in Taipei City of year 2010 was taken as research sample and this study targeted on students of grade 5 and 6 in Taipei City to conduct a questionnaire of the personality and the involvement degree of online game for the elementary school senior grade students . Further, the stratified random sampling was used to conduct the survey and a total of 636 valid samples were collected. Through semi structured interview method, this study interviewed the senior students and their teachers for an in-depth study. The findings of research are concluded as followings:
1. About 90% of the elementary students have played online game especially the free online game.
2. The gender, the amount and way of purchasing online game, parents attitude, year of experience and the most favorable online game category have an impact on the degree involvement of online game.
3.Whether the students would play online game during weekdays and weekends and the amount of time they spend playing online game will affect the involvement degree of online game.
4.The students participated in online game tend to have less conscientiousness comparing to those who do not play online game.
5.For those who played online games during weekdays and weekends, they tend to have higher conscientiousness and agreeableness if they spend less time playing online game.
6.Agreeableness and conscientiousness had the low negative correlation with the involvement degree of online game. Neuroticism had the low positive correlation with the involvement degree of online game.
7.According to the estimation of the involvement degree on personality, the higher Agreeableness and conscientiousness is expected to associate with lower involvement degree of online game .
8.According to the estimation of the involvement degree on personality, the higher openness and Neuroticism is expected to associate with stronger involvement degree of online game .
